Key Responsibilities
Conceives and develops solutions to product quality or application problems through the application of industry accepted knowledge, techniques, practices and procedures. Observes coating application processes in production test or at customer sites; determines source of problems and effectively resolves problems by applying technical knowledge of coatings products, application (equipment) systems, processes, materials, specifications and procedures. Performs physical tasks of disassembling, troubleshooting, assembling, troubleshooting and operating coating application systems.
Collects and analyzes data, identifies problems and develops effective solutions; maintains records of procedures and data for future reference.
Effectively communicates results, develops corrective procedures, writes, validates and distributes other technical information to appropriate technical development, management, sales and customer representatives via e-mail and formal written reports.
Proficient in training and application for all product segments (Commercial, General Aviation, and Military). Ability to conduct unassisted comprehensive training sessions for customers both in-house and at customer locations using electronic methods and hands-on tools.
Must be able to assist customers in the development of new engineering specifications for PPG Aerospace materials.
Assists other members of the technical service staff as a backup resource for advanced problem solving
Basic Function:
This position will be directly responsible for the onsite implementation of coatings application and reporting duties. The representative will be under the direction of the Global Technical Service Manager in support of PPG Aerospace Coatings platform business goals and market objectives. The representative will be responsible for using acquired technical expertise to support product application and line assessments, equipment installation, troubleshooting and account servicing for commercial products. The representative will have interaction between R&T, additional PPG technical associates, Engineering Services and will be required to support ongoing sales/service efforts.
Nature and Scope:
The Aerospace Technical Service Department is responsible to provide a broad range of technical support for commercially available product lines to both Original Equipment Manufacturers and Aftermarket business segments. The OEM Technical Service Representative is based near the customer location to allow proper support to the customer for in-development technologies and existing commercialized products. The representative will provide complex problem solving support to the R&T, sales and marketing groups, as well as the service staff for all of PPG's aerospace customers.
The representative will be proficient in equipment types and product application techniques. The candidate must possess strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, in addition to strong mechanical and problem solving competency. These skills will be necessary for interactions with internal associates as well as external aerospace customers and contacts. The Tech Service Representative is considered a primary contact for internal and external aerospace customers. The candidate will be expected travel to customer locations as needed for the assessment of existing equipment, equipment training, and application trials. Rapid response is required during customer field issues. The candidate should possess a working knowledge of and enforce all safety procedures. The incumbent will be responsible for safety and laboratory stewardship of his/her activities while at PPG and customer facilities.
The incumbent is expected to plan, organize, and manage his/her workload in accordance with established Technical Service practices with minimum of supervision. The incumbent's duties include, but are not limited to, coordination of effort with Process Applications Development Engineer, Technical Service Supervisor and Global Technical Service Manager, and the local customer account manager.

Travel:
Must be available for both domestic and international travel, averaging but not limited to 50-75%.
Work availability:
Must be available for work Monday-Sunday as well Holidays, varying shifts-weekends as required and necessary.
Principal Accountabilities:
To conduct and/or observe coating application processes in laboratory, production test or at customer sites; determine source of problems and effectively resolves problems by applying technical knowledge of coatings products, equipment, processes, materials, specifications and procedures.
To conceive and develop solutions to product quality or application problems through the application of industry accepted knowledge, techniques, practices and procedures.
Performs the physical tasks of disassembling, troubleshooting, assembling, troubleshooting and operating coating application systems
To serve as point of contact responsible for collecting and submitting appropriate trial metrics for both routine and troubleshooting analysis and interface with the appropriate personnel regarding status.
To analyze data both from analytical trials and customer line conditions to identify problems and develop effective solutions; maintain records of procedures and data for future reference.
To effectively communicate results, develop corrective procedures, write, validate and distribute other technical information to appropriate technical, management, sales and customer representatives for the development of Technical Data Sheets, Application Guides, Process Application Bulletins, etc. utilizing the Process Standard Template.
Participate in training sessions for customers both in-house and at customer locations.
Work effectively to deadlines and to provide solutions to problems within set timeframe.
The successful candidate will be expected to have flexibility to travel to additional PPG and customer locations within the US and remain onsite until a solution is provided. Travel demands may often be given on short notice.
Experience and Education
Candidates with equivalent industry related experience and knowledge will be considered. A degree in chemistry or chemical engineering is not required but would be advantageous.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
